The instrument has beeen meticulously maintained through the years. It was relacquered a long time ago and done extremely well. The lacquer is an original type cellulose-base lacquer and has patinaed to a nice honey gold color. Even the finest detail of the engraving remains intact. There has been NO fileing of tone holes and NO obvious key swedging. The horn has seen a few little dings in the backside of the body tube and bottom bow which have been perfectly addressed, but no major dents. The original neck is in great shape as well. It has the matching serial number and has never been pulled down or damaged.
